The jewelry trade show season, with its “Market Weeks,” is in full swing. It gives me a chance to
reconnect with the pulse of the jewelry scene, meet talented new designers, and preview the collections that are on their way in for the Holiday/Winter and those that will shape jewelry trends for 2013.
I was glad to see that some of my favorite trends from last year are still going strong. Floral motifs in particular are still very strong with plenty of glittering pavé diamond work to enhance the glamor and elegance of nature. For example, our classic Fortunoff exclusive does this so well:
For the upcoming fall season, we will also be welcoming some new “wildlife” to our collections, with abundant butterflies, bees, ladybugs, and other insects, as well as frogs, spiders and other whimsical lovelies. Watch our website for these creatures to appear!
Another look that shows no sign of going away is the use of strong, vibrant colored gems being used in everywhere, with new twists on the multi-stone and multi-tone look, as in this large amethyst and diamond multi gemstone statement ring.
Our dramatic green agate earrings feature black and white diamonds and will add plenty of glamour to your wardrobe.
Designers continue to use gemstone slices by incorporating them into bezel set and diamond designs. We featured that trend when I included our decadent pink sapphire gem slices necklace assortment. They are so well priced–we are almost sold out.
We are bringing in more of these juicy jewel-tones, to complement our existing collection. There will be plenty of faceted, cabochon and slice gems to perk up your wardrobe.
Oversized earrings will continue to be an important silhouette for the second half of this year and well into 2013. The big look of the 80s shoulder duster earrings will translate to a long, sleek look for everyone. I love our Hibiscus earrings, which offer plenty of pizzazz and incredible value:
Our three tier diamond pavé drop earrings capture this trend exceptionally well:
It was nice to see the level of creativity and unusual and handmade jewelry. Whether it is an updated classic, a new ‘must-have,’ or something absolutely fresh, I get so excited by looking at gorgeous gemstones and diamonds, or coaching an unknown soon-to-be-famous talent. Please continue to visit, and let me know how you like my jewelry trend forecasts!
